Latest Cougar Long-range Tactical Copter On Show At LIMA 2007

LANGKAWI, Dec 3 (Bernama) -- Eurocopter, the world's leading helicopter manufacturer, will display the latest of the Cougar Family's long-range tactical transport helicopter at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2007.
Known as EC 725, the copter, which is being used by the French Air Force will be displayed with its state-of-the-art technology for utility and military (combat) search and rescue.
The Franco-German-Spanish Eurocopter Group's spokesman said the EC 725 is designed to perform search and rescue operations, combat SAR (satellite access request), long distance tactical transport missions and also medical transport and logistical services.
"It is a medium-class twin-engine helicopter, whose performance capabilities have noticeably increased compared to all previous Cougar versions," the spokeman said.
Other Eurocopter aircraft on display include the Hornbill Skyway EC 135 P2i and Squirrel AS355 of the Royal Malaysia Police.
The Dauphin AS365 N3 which belongs to the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency will also be on display at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre, venue of the aerospace division of LIMA 2007, added the spokesman.
Eurocopter, which is one of the major helocopter exhibitors at the event, offers the largest range of civil and military helicopters in the world.
The group is the world's number one helicopter manufacturer with a turnover of 3.8 billion euros (1 euro=RM4.91), holding a 52 percent market share in the civil and parapublic sectors.
The group's products account for 30 percent of the world helicopter fleet.
More than 9,800 Eurocopter helicopters are in service with over 2,800 customers in 140 countries.
