LIMA 2007 Records Transactions Worth Billions Of Ringgit
LANGKAWI, Dec 7 (Bernama) -- The Langkawi International Marine and Aerospace (LIMA) exhibition this year well exceeded the expectations of various parties, becoming an effective platform for international companies to not only showcase their products but expand their business in the region.
Global investors at the event not only promoted their products but also successfully established networks with local companies both with those with established names and those from the small and medium industries.
The five-day exhibition which will end tomorrow, saw many international companies signing business deals and strategic partnerships especially with local companies.
Eurocopter Group senior vice president sales and marketing Olivier Lambert said his company met the targets it had set out for this year's LIMA.
"We are absolutely happy with the business communities who came and visited our booth here," he said.
The helicopter producing company has been participating since the first LIMA event in 1991 and said it was committed to the next event.
Meanwhile, a local businessman, Ahmad Hamdan, 40, when met by Bernama said that his visit to LIMA 2007 was to get information on the latest security surveillance systems in the market.
Ahmad who has a company which sells security surveillance systems, said that LIMA was one event that businessmen like him eagerly awaited as it showcased the latest technologies directly.
"We are able to deal with the foreign companies directly and this involves much less cost than when going to their countries," he said.
This year's LIMA also witnessed the signing of more than 30 agreements and Memoranda of Understanding between the government and the private sector, all coming to billions of ringgit in value.
Among the deals included the sale and purchase agreement for ATR 72-500s aircraft worth more than RM2 billion between Penerbangan Malaysia and the French-Italian company, ATR.
